Sugar Free Chocolate Madness

Happy Easter!! This is a weekend that I do let my kids have (lots) of chocolate as everyone in our family buys them Easter Eggs so with all this chocolate in our house I can’t say no to them. It did get me thinking though that I wanted to find some more no sugar chocolate treats for them as a few months ago I posted No bake “Chocolate” naughty(ish) treats  which was incredibly popular with mum kids and I got really positive feedback from my lovely followers. So here are some more ideas of yummy chocolate treats that are actually refined sugar free and (kind of) healthy. Just don’t tell the kids!!

Chocolate Muffins:

I find it really hard finding sugar free recipes that don’t contain sugar substitutes like Stevia or Candarel which I don’t give to my children. This recipe was one of the only ones I could find that doesn’t use any artificial sweetener but uses agave nectar instead of sugar and it makes a really nice and light chocolate muffin.

No sugar Chocolate ice cream / lollies

I found this recipe on a FB group I am part of and it makes a really chocolatey yummy ice cream that even my 6year old chocolaholic devoured. Clearly I didn’t tell him it had avocadoes in it though!

2 avocados ripe peeled and chopped

1 banana (the browner the better) – peeled and chopped

2 tbsp cocoa powder

2 tbsp honey

175ml milk

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Put everything in a food processor or blender and blitz until it is all combined and smooth. Spoon the mixture into ice lolly moulds or a tupperware container then freeze for about 4 hours or until it is solid.

Chocolate Brownies:

Again I have found very few sugar free chocolate brownie recipes that don’t use a scary sugar substitute but these “purely fruit sweetened” ones from Jamie Oliver use dates instead of sugar so, although high in natural fructose sugars, are refined sugar free and actually are really nice!

This Sugar Free Brownie recipe uses sweet potatoes and bananas to sweeten the brownies and again make a really fudgey textured brownie.

Enjoy!!!!
